Description

Boom Debris with solid buoyancy

The boom is designed to protect inlets and outlets from waterborne debris and detritus. It can also be used as a safety barrier system. These booms are designed predominantly for permanent deployment in areas of high and ongoing spill risk.

Selecting the right debris boom –

The most suitable debris boom to meet your requirements is dependent on a number of factors including:

  • The type of  project dredging, construction, runoff/debris control
  • The duration of the project
  • The body of water – calm lake/pond, moving river/stream, near-shore, sea
  • The water conditions – wave height, current/flow rate, wind velocity in the area, water depth
  • The length and depth of curtain you need

Installation

Installation can be problematic and using an experienced team to do this would always be our recommendation.  Consideration needs to be given to the flow of the water, the anchor points of the boom and the rise and fall during heavy downpours.  OPEC Ltd are experienced in the installation of a range of booms and can provide a full installation service.  For further information on site visits and installation costs please get in touch providing as much detail of the area as you can via our contact page.

Debris collection

Floating debris, municipal rubbish and plastic articles are an ongoing blemish on the environment.  Much of this finds its way into waterways and ultimately into the oceans.  A simple solution this is to trap the trash.  OPEC Ltd have installed systems to do this which allows the debris to be removed by a skip truck.  Typically called “Floating Debris Catchment & Recovery System (Litter Trap)“.  For further information on this system, please get in touch via our contact page.
