Oil Spill Kit / Refill 130L Static Bunker

This medium sized oil spill kit contains a range of oil absorbents that are suitable for use inside and out.  Oil absorbent pads are meltblown and are designed for use in absorbing hydrocarbon based spills, particularly from watercourses including rivers, brooks and streams. Being hydrophobic they repel water and will float making for easy retrieval.

Oil absorbent meltblown pads are also excellent for use in and around the workplace to soak up drips, leaks and spills of hydrocarbon based fluids from machinery and floor ways. They are also ideal for removing oil contaminants that has collected in drains, ponds, puddles, tanks and bunds.  The fast acting, powerful absorbents in this kit have a high material strength and liquid retention.

Bunker bins provide easy access to absorbents and have forklift access making them easy to position. Locks are available for these bins to avoid tampering, vandalism and add to the security for outdoor bins. All of our bunkers are made from 100% polyethlyene and some have an angled lid to allow rain water to run off, keeping the contents dry and ready for use in an emergency spill.

Maximum absorbency capacity 179 Litres

Description

Oil Spill Kit / Refill 130L Static Bunker

May be safely used with all liquids immiscible with water, such as hydrocarbons, solvents, mineral oils etc.  Before any use in a spill situation a proper risk assessment should be carried out and all hazardous properties of the liquid or dangerous reactions taken into account.

Training

If you are unsure of how to use absorbents, we have high quality 17 minute Spill Response and Pollution Prevention Training Video. Watch this short snippet

This training video will teach you about the 5 sections of the Pollution Prevention Hierarchy, helping you to reduce prosecution risks.  It demonstrates:-

      1. Awareness
      2. Helping the injured
      3. Stopping the flow
      4. Clean up
      5. Containment

The training video contains guidance on:

    • How to prevent spills
    • How to deal with spills safely if they occur
    • The different types of Spill Kits
    • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
    • The different types of Absorbents
    • Deployment of Socks & Booms

Material are tested in accordance with:

ISO 10319:2024 (Geosynthetics, wide-width tensile test)

BS 7959-1:2004 (Materials used for the control of liquid spillages determination of sorbency)

    • The standard looks at the sorbent materials.
    • These are generally available in two basic types.
    • Hydrophobic grades (so-called oil sorbents) that pick up oils and other organic liquids but repel water and most aqueous solutions.
    • Hydrophilic grades, on the other hand, pick up both oils and organic liquid and most aqueous solutions of chemicals.
    • The absorbency is greatly influenced by the liquid viscosity and drainage time.
    • We quote minimum absorbencies based on laboratory tests carried out using SAE10W40 motor oil.
    • Tests are in line with the British Standard Test Method BS7959-1:2004 (30 second drainage time, at 20C) and maximum absorbencies with no drainage.
